I'm Back...(I Think)

Good morning! We apologize for the technical difficulties of the last 48 hours. The Management of this blog hopes it has caused no lasting trauma and will now return you to your regularly scheduled post. Thank you for your patience and have a wonderful day!
“Holy crap-on-toast Batman! Is this why they say drugs are bad?”
“Why yes, Robin. It is. Just look at the chaos it’s caused in the last week, and those drugs were legal!”
You guys should have seen it around here yesterday. Because then, ya know…then you could tell me what the heck exactly happened! When my feet hit the floor this morning, it looked like a paper-sock-cat hair bomb went off in my living room, not to mention the obvious home invasion we suffered. (Someone seems to have broken-in and dirtied EVERY drinking vessel and plate in the joint!)
Where was I when all this was occurring? OUT like my last hard drive! Drugs…are VERY BAD for Chris.
Due to a wonderful “glitch” with the almighty Insurance guys, I was unable to refill my blessed, holy, beloved migraine rescue meds. (Ya think I like them much?) So, in all his infinite Med School wisdom, my Doc gave me a script for a different “preventative” bit of darkness-from-the-nether-world. And yesterday I had cause to ingest it for the first time! Oh my…That’s all I can say because I remember NOTHING else!
Actually, I vaguely recall waking up to “eat” lunch. (And by “eat” I mean do my bestest impression of a Dyson Wind-tunnel thing…not even sure I actually chewed.) I sort of remember hubby getting home from work. I’m fairly certain I went to bed, since that’s where I woke up this morning…two hours late!
This is the visual representation
of a head that feels like GLORY!
AHHHHHH.......
Oh yeah, them’s some REALLY good meds! You may have a migraine approaching at the speed of suck, but you’ll never know because you’ll have chemically lost a full 24 hours. (Why couldn’t I have had these things when the offspring were toddlers? There are plenty of 24 hour periods from those “good ole days” I wouldn’t have minded missing.)
Fortunately, the only “after-effects” I seem to be experiencing is the feeling of being beaten with a lead-filled bat for 24 hours straight. But that’s cool…because my head feels like Glory! (Yes, a thing CAN feel like “glory” because I just said it could! Use your imagination, for cryin’ out loud!)
So, this morning it’s off to an early Physical Therapy appointment (9-friggin’-30!) then running about 50 errands. After THAT, I’m free to come home, grab a snow shovel, and begin excavating my living room. *deep sigh*
All I really want to know? Why did they have to wait until Mom was unconscious to have a rockin’ party? (Since, ya know…that’s the only explanation for the devastation I’m sitting here looking at.) I’m a fun gal…I like to celebrate. Or, do you think they were maybe celebrating my unconscious state? I foresee intense interrogations in their collective futures…
May your day be filled with parties you’re totally involved in, friends and family that pick up after themselves *falls over laughing at the possibility of this one actually occurring*, and more happily conscious hours than those spent in med-induced dream-land!

  1. ROFL!! I've had a few med dazes like that. Also unfortunately not while my kids were toddlers. I'm only allowed to clean/do productive shit for an hour a day. How the hell am I supposed to keep up with two crazy mess causing kids? An hour to clean does not equal 23 hours of them mess-making!

    1. Holy crap! I don't know how you're supposed to manage that one? I remember when the kids were young...you had to be like the Energizer Bunny, never stop moving. Soome days it seemed like I was their shadow, picking it up and wiping it off as they laid it down and moved onto the next "victim". LOL!
Good luck! Hopefully, you're at least getting some help!

  2. I have NO IDEA what the fudge monkies just happened!?! One minute comments are working great, the next Comment-Luv evaporated! No clue if I was hacked or if the comments were just over my sense of humor. *sigh*
I'm cutting-n-pasting the ones I recieved from my e-mailed copies. Sorry guys!
(And the worst part? I don't even know where the heck to look to fix this! Where's my oldest "tech-support" kid?)

Hi Chris, I said I'd drop by, but WOW, what a bummer! The drugs may be super but like you said, "I wasn't even invited to the party!" My children are out of the house so a "paper - sock - cat hair bombs" are only a faint memory. Any "paper-bomb" has been created by the writer in the house! Me! Right now my beautiful neat house is not my priority.

Migraines are all too familiar, I suffered with them since the 7th grade. Terrible, terrible, terrible. No good drugs, nothing that gave me relief. Darkness and quiet, ice packs or a cold tile floor. I tried everything. I was blessed they lasted only 24 hours, some I knew lasted 3 days.

    to be continued . . .

me again. Your system said I talk too much and to break it into more posts. So here's the balance . . . :)

Your humor is incredible considering. Ever do stand up comic? I admire anyone with a funny-bone because I didn't get one. One's life can be rough so we have to look to others to highlight the funny moments amid the trials. Your work is a delight to read. Fifty errands? That's a lot in one day. :)

    2. (See if I can remember what I wrote. *grin*)
      First, thank you so much!
Second, I'm sorry you suffer with these beasties. Migraines aren't something I'd wish on anyone! (OK, maybe if you gave me a while I'd come up with a name or two...*grin*)
My Mom had ones that would last days. I am so glad they have invented drugs that if they don't work to stop them, there's at leas Nubaine!
Unless you count the check-out line at Wal-Mart, I've never done stand up. I'm not sure if I could, since I can no longer drink and I'd probably have to be blitzed to get up in front of people. LOL!
Hopefully, the headaches will leave you alone! And again, thank you so very, very much for the kind words!

Chris, You have great potential for stand up comedy. I wish you would do more of your lines on Itty Bitty. You are hilarious!

    1. LOL! Thank you Karen. I'll try to start posting on there more often. *grin* Although, most of the one-liners I come up with are so bad they make the offspring cringe!

Oh I know the joy of the doctor switching up the meds unnecessarily, not to mention all the migraine fun. Great post.

    1. I am so sorry you live with these aweful things too! You'd think they'd be able to come up with something to help...shoot! Install a "reset" switch so I can reboot when they happen. I think I could live with that!
And the way the Doc explained it, the simple act of switching the meds to STOP them could actually bring them on, since everything changes the brain chemistry...WHAT THE HECK!?!

  6. Hi Chris - at least they didn't take photos of you with weird things hanging on your ears and silly hats on your head while you were out! Or did they....
    LOL!!

  7. There was a very nice Lady whose comment I have lost...it went to a different folder, so I didn't recieve a copy in e-mail to cut-and-paste...and my Swiss-cheese brain can't for the life of me remember your name. *sigh*
I did read your comment...before the computer ate it...SORRY!

  8. Mario's mom here: ROFL - boy can I relate to this post. I've been out like a light myself due to drugs - Parkinson's drugs, which I should be taking. In my case the doctor ordered generics thinking he could save me money and himself having to write to insurance and tell them why I couldn't take generic. Once again your misfortune has left me rolling on the floor laughing because you are so talented with putting humor in your posts. You always cheer me up. Hmmm - I think when I leave a comment I should be cheering you up!

    1. LOL! Thank you Mary and Mario! And you know what? Hearing I left you laughing DOES cheer me up!
Thank GAWD I FINALLY got my normal script renewed today so I shouldn't ever have to take those horrid knowck-out pills ever, EVER again!
You want to hear the funniest part? The bottle says I can take three a day as needed. THREE A DAY!?! Holy monkey! I couldn't have woken up to take anymore! LMAO!
Hopefully, you'll be getting the good, name brand stuff soon so you can ditch the generics! *hugs*

  9. At least you need drugs to have those wtf happened in here moments! lol I have them on a regular basis! Actually, as I'm writing this comment, I'm looking around my room and wondering when the tornado hit because I SWEAR I just cleaned it... again. Except for vacuuming it. I've been banned from using the "house" vacuum down here and after my neighbor borrowed our "Tim Taylor Special" shop vac when her basement flooded during Hurricane Irene, I can't for life of me get it to go back together right--turns out she forgot to take the filter off when she was sucking up the water. I'm still on the hunt for a cheap, decent bagless vacuum for my little cave. And what did your dr put you on? Morphine? I've never heard of a preventative migraine med knocking you out like that. Except Topamax. But unfortunately, it doesn't knock you out.. it just turns you into a major dumbass until you adjust to the medication making you wish you were knocked out. lol ((hugs))

    1. LOL! I've lost track of how many shop-vacs we've gone through. (Although, I'm usually the one to screw up the filter...)
Sadly, I'm allergic to Morphine. *sigh* He gave me Fioricet, and honestly? I hadn't done any research on it, then when the time came I needed it, I couldn't have focussed my eyes if I tried. All I honestly know is it contains a barbituate, and I NEVER intend to use it again!

    2. I've heard of Fioricet before, but haven't taken it.. it's actually not for migraines, but more for tension headaches... and it contains caffeine, so I'm surprised it knocked you out like that. My dr's try to avoid putting me on Morphine unless there's no other option. Normal people? They're knocked out cold. Me? I turn into a hyper, babbling idiot on the stuff and stand a greater chance of hurting myself worse than before I was given Morphine. lol

    3. It's not the 40MG of caffeine that got me. *grin*
Yes, it's mainly for headaches caused for tension and anxiety. Since my "aura" normally involves the muscles in my neck, he was hopeing this would stop it before it hit my head. "Relax" me enough it stopped. Umm...did NOT work like that!
Besieds, these beasties have been different, starting behind my right eye, but it's amazing what a "normal" person will try when desperate.

  10. Sounds like tales I've heard of Ambien. People doing all kinds of shiz they can't remember. Oh, how I loathe trying a new medication. Glad you're back!

    1. That's too funny! One of my favorite authors, Jen Lancaster, writes about her Ambien induced e-bay shopping sprees. It's enough to make me NEVER want to take that stuff.
I swear, there are days I feel like a guinea pig! *grin*
